Steamer Ashore.
By Telegraph—Press Association New Plymouth, lust night. Tho Northern Company’s steamer, Kanieri ran ashore on the South Spit of the Waitara river last evening, when entering the river. She now lies parallel with the bench, partially on the concrete training wall, which has made a dent in the plates. A portion of the cargo has been discharged on the Efforts to float her on this morning’s tide failed. Another attempt will bo made this evening. No damage beyond tho dent mentioned has been done.
