A RESCUE.

By Telograph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night.

Yesterday a man named John Francis went out fishing at Sumner in a small flat-bottomed boat. A heavy swell sot in, and the small craft was overturned. Francis managed to climb on the bottom of the boat, the seas washing completely over him. A lifeboat was got out, and there was an eager rush to man it. Eventually Francis was rescued by the lifeboat, amid great applause from the excited spectators.
