Recent Events.
(To the Editor of the Times)
Sir, —Such thrilling events as have occurred in the West Indies, where such disastrous loss of life and property is still proceeding, have almost made us forget such horrors as have lately occurred in Russia, where unarmed men, women, and children have been, by the orders of some fiends in authority, shot, and others flogged to death. Surely these events must foreshadow the end so long looked for, and should in any case remind us that we in these colonies are highly favored in being so far preserved from such horrors. We should remember the words of Our Lord, when speaking of the disasters that befel those on whom the town of Siloam fell, and other fatalities in those [days, when he said : “ Think ye that they were sinners more than any of you ? I tell you nay; but except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish.” Let each one strive to escape that great and terrible day, “which cometb as a thief in the night.” “ How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation ?”—I am, etc., f Peo Boyo Pcskco. s
