VETERANS’ HOME.
LORD BANFURLY’S PROPOSALS,
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Auckland, last night.
Speaking on the question of a Veterans' Home, at the meoting of the Empire Veterans’ Association to day, the Governor said he believed if a Home were built thei e could be found, without difficulty, forty veterans ready to go into it. By having such a home those who had served their country could havo a little more pleasure in their old age than in the benevolent institutions of tho colony. He asked whether the Association would back him up in an application he had sent to England for the establishment of a Home in the Auckland or Taranaki district. Such a Home, of comae, would be for the whole colony. Tho meeting heartily endorsed the Governor’s proposals.
