Wellington, last night. Owing to the course being under water the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting was to-day postponed until Saturday and Wednesday next. It has been decided by the Department of Agriculture to discontinue free dis. tribution of vine cuttings and surplus fruit trees from its stations. In future a charge will be made for cuttings and trees. At the Mayoral installation to-day Mr Aitken said that the Council would, since its proposed water supply scheme improvement had been rejected, have to proceed with the matter again, and approach the oitizens in some other way in osdev to briog about an improvement.
