THE ADDINGTON MARKET.

Christchurch, last night. Fat cattle : 233 were yardod, a mixed entry, and with no change in prices. Beef brought 19s to 24s 6d; best bullocks, £ll to £l2 ; good steers, £8 to £lO 10s; lighter, £6 15s to £7 10s; heifers, £5 6s to £8; cows, £5 to £8 7s fid.

Store cattle : 250 were yarded. Yearlings sold from 283 ; 15 to 18 months, £1 18s to £2 7s 6d ; 2-year steers, £4 183 to £5 ss; 3 year steers, £6 103 to £6 17s 6d; dry cows, £1 8s to £4; best dairy cows, £7 10s to £8 10s; others, £3' 10s to £6 10s.

Fat sheep : 5000 were yarded. They were a mixed entry, and owing to the rise at Home exporters were competing keenly both for wethers and ewes, tbe former more than holding their own, and ewea showing a considerable rise. Freezing wethers realised 15s and 17s 6d to 18s 8d; maiden ■ ewes, 14s to 16s lOd; ewes for export, 10s fid to 15s; butchers’ best ewes, 13s and 15s to 15s fid for extra; others, 8s Id to 12s 6d ; merino wethers for export, 11s to 13s lOd; butchers ewes, 11s 9d.

Fat lambs : 1183 were yarded, mostly inferior. There was a good demand for anything fit for export, freezers taking hsilf the entry at 11s 3d and 13s 6d, to 14s 2d for tegs. Butchers’ took 300 at 10s to 14s 9d, and 260 fell to graziers at 10s 6d. Store sheep .- 4695 were yarded, equally divided between wethers, ewes, and lambs. The quality on the whole was poor and there was a weaker demand, only a few forward lambs holding their own. About half the entry, forward 2-tooth wethers, realised 13s 9d to 13s lOd ; fair, 12s 7d ; inferior, 9s 9d. One line of good- ewes brought 14s ; the rest were passed. Forward lambs brought 8s lOd to 10s 3d ; others, 6s 3d to 7s 6d.

Pigs : About 400 were yarded. Owing to the heavy supplies during the past few weeks all sorts were easier. Baconers brought 30s to 45s 6d, or 3d to 34d ; porkers, 20s to 30s, or 3|d to 3£d; stores’ 11s to 15s ; suckers and weaners, 4s to 9s’
