[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Palmerston North, last night. A committee of the Borough Council will recommend the Council on Tuesday night to celebrate the silver jubilee of the borough on Coronation Day, and that tho memorial tako the form of a drinking fountain in the Square.

Auckland, last night. At a meeting of the Coronation subcommittee and toachers, the proposal to place a portion of Queen street uuder canvas, and there entertain the children, was rejected. It was decided to entertain the children at the circus and other places oi amusement, and present each child with a card commemorating the event. Nelson, last night. Sir J. G. Ward arrived here this afternoon, and received several deputations, who referred mostly to local matters. The desirability of providing direct communicate with Haumer Springs and making available for tourists -a id others the Hot, Springs between Nelson and Reefton, and rendering more accessible the lakes drained by the Bulier, Rotoiti, and Rotorua, were also brought under the notice of the Acting-Premier. Napier, last night. At the Supreme Court to-day Opiha Tana, a young Maori, 19 years old, was found guilty of a criminal assault upon a native girl, between the age of 12 and 16 years, and was remanded for sentence.
