FASTEST RUN OF THE SEASO

The weather yesterday was delightful for the Hunt Club’s meet, and there was a fine gathering in the paddock near the Lome homestead. The first check was made at the Waikohu bridge, the second cheek near Fulia-

otiko house, the third check aeros:

file river near the Rangatira station, and the finish at the river. Messrs Tait and W. Sidney made the first check, and Misses C. and N. Reynolds the last check. The horses all jumped well, and there were very few mishaps. Mr W. Hutchinson's horse feil at the first fence, hut horse and rider escaped without injury. The only other “ spill ” was that of Mr D. McKenzie, on Bullpup. There was a

large attendance of those participating in the hunt and of spectators. The hounds had the fastest run of the sea son. Luncheon was served up at th*: Rangatira Hotel, and the licensee is entitled to warm praise for 'the excellence of the spread. Among the ladies who toojc part in the hunt were Miss N. Reynolds, on King Jim; Miss C. Reynolds, on Sandy ; Miss Bennett, or. Baldy. Misses Newman (2), Mrs Reynolds, and Miss Scott, Messrs h. P.Julio, Crimmins-, P. Malone, and C. Alien were among the spectators. The huntsman, Mr J. Malone, was- mounted on Honeysuckle. The whip, Mr O. Evans, was on Major. ' The Master,' Mr W. Hutchinson, was mounted on Colonel. Mr J. C. McLean was riding Baldy ; J. Devery, Ikatere ; R. ; Reynolds, a bay mare ; E. Johnson on Argus ;T. Tait, Bushwhacker ; S. Newman, Llangollan ; A. McLean, grey mare ; W. Scott, John Teel; B. Mc-

Kenzie, Bulldog colt; Hennessy, Dependable ; T. Kerr, Wentworth ; A. Hood, Amokura ; W. Bailey, Shanduf; K. W-lliamson. grey horse. The mounts all went well, and the huntsmen had a good day, while the spectators fully enjoyed the sport.
