At tho meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to-day, Mr D. J... Nathan was appointed President and Mr H. Beauchamp Vice-president. TEACHERS FOR SOUTH AFRICA. Ten lady teachers for South African concentration camps sailed to-day by the Westralia, en route for Melbourne. Prior to their departure, they were entertained by Ministers at afternoon-tea. SUPREME COURT. At tho Supreme Court to-day, Michael Power was found guilty of theft, and remanded for sentence. David Anderson was acquitted on a charge of stealing. CORONATION DAY. " At a meeting of citizens to-day, a committee was appointed to consider the best method of celebrating the Coronation in Wellington, and to report to a meeting next week. The Mayor suggested that something should be done towards entertaining the poor and the children. DANGEROUSLY ILL. William Stanton, of the Sixth Contingent, is dangerously ill of enteric at Wynberg. A PRESENTATION ADDRESS. Mr J. McKerrow, who recently retired from the position of Chairman of tho Land Purchase Board, to-day was presented with an address and a handsome piece of furniture by the officials who have been associated with him in the various departments. TOWN HALL. The contract for building the Wellington Town Hall at £53,949 was signed today. The successful tenderers are Messrs Paterson, Martin, and Hunter.
