AN ENQUIRY.

THE JESSIE OSBJBNE FIRE. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. The enquiry into the fire on the barque Jessie Osborne concluded to-day. The Court came to the conclusion that there was not sufficient evidence to show how the outbreak originated. Capt. Bendall, Lloyd’s surveyor, in the course of his evidence, said he had strong opinion that the fire did not arise from spontaneous combustion. The stevedore who loaded the ship said it would have been impossible for anyone to roach the spot near the foremast, where he believed the fire "broke out. It was stated during the enquiry that eighteen hundred bales of wool were affected by water, but only two were destroyed by fire.
