FRIGHTENED AUSTRALIANS.
MR BEDJDON THEIR BOGEY MAN’ By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright , Sydney, March 21. . The Daily Telegraph, dealing with the despatch of the latest contingents, and Mr Seddon's latest proposals in reference to duties on British imported goods, says the manifest disposition of Mr Seddon to grip general sway with his hands needs careful Australian watching. It seems that he aims at taking the lead in larger Australasian affairs'and calling the tune for the Commonwealth Government in all .these quentions. The New Zealand Government is so energetically endeavoring to apply its own motive power to Australasian policy that this is palpably the , outcome of the colony’s self exclusion from the Commonwealth. It is well, therefore, that tho Australian Government should be called upon at ’ this early stage of its history to assert itself and waive off what, if unchecked, might develop into Australia being governed in certain large respects from Wellington.
