The Bank of New Zealand returns show the reserve to be £26,775,000 ; coin and bullion £35,100,000 ; percentage reserve to liabilities, 45’63 ; in circulation, £28,550,000 ; public deposits, £18,948,000 ; other deposits, £39,528,000 ; Government securities, £16,274,000; other securities, £33,953,070. Three months bills are discounted at 2j. | Consols are at 9 3-5.
New South Wales three-halfs are at 103-L Other stocks are unchangep. The wheat markets are firm. Business is restricted to cargoes, and is dull. New South Wales January-March shipment sold at 295; January parcels, 29s 3d. Butter: New Zealand is dull at 108 s ; Danish is firm at 113 s. Cheese is in strong demand, but prices are unchanged. The sugar market is steady. German is at 6s 3d; first marks, 7s 9d.
The copper market is._ flatspot 524, three months 52 3-8.
Tin is firm ; spot, 1171; three months, 1141. Pig-iron is at 52s 41d, lead at £ll 10s 74d, and spelter at 17 11-16. At the Bradford wool sale'common sixties were at 201; super, 21. The London sales are firm, with brisk competition for all classes. Branoepet’s clip sold at 6d.
