(Per Press Association.) Nelson, last night. The City Council to-night considered applications for tho position of City surveyor. It was ultimately decided to ask some further information from Mr

Henderson, C.E., of Sydney, but no definite appointment as yet has been made. H.M.S. Liza/rd arrived this evening, with the Admiral, who is on an unofficial visit.

A requisition from the City Council was presented the Mayor, Mr Baigent, to-day asking him to consent to nomination for a second time. He replied appreciating the expression of confidence, and said he would take time to consider.
