ATHLETICS.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, last night. The first meeting of the newly-formed Manawatu Amateur Athletic Club was held this afternoon, and proved a great success. Several athletes from Wellington and Wanganui were among the competitors, and secured the majority of the trophies. A. S. Henderson, Wellington, won the 120yds hurdles and half-mile flat. W. H. Pollock, Wellington, won the 220 yards handicap, and was second in the 440yds handicap. J. J. Johnson won the 440yds handicap. W. Clarkson won the one and three mile cycle events from scratch.
