A STRANGE THEFT.
[By Telegraph—Press Association]. Christchurch, last night. On January 30th a cash-box containing £25 3s 9jd in cash and some cheques was stolen from the Sumner Post-office. Some days ago the postmistress received a package through the post, which was found to contain £22 of the missing money. The thief enclosed a note, asking the postmistress to acknowledge the restitution through the newspapers.
