A SWINDLER.
(Per Press Association).
CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Some little time ago a stranger came to Christchurch and embarked a a business which required a number of ■ skilled tradesmen to carry it on. He .advertised business freely, and also advertised for men. To those who answered the advertisement he represented that the business was going to be the leading one in its line in thecity, and as there were certain secrets . in the trade, he would only engage. 1 jnen who were prepared to deposit £2f. as a guarantee of good faith. Several persons complied with these conditions, and all went well for a few weeks, but now the enterprising business man is missing, and those who v/ere misguided enough to let him handle their money have Keen left lamenting.
