DEATH OF MR C. Y. O’CONNOR.

SUPPOSED SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Perth, March 11. A painful sensation has been caused by the news that Mr C. IT.1 T . O’Connor, Engi-ueer-in-Chief, was found dead in tho water on the beach some miles from Fremantle, under circumstances pointing to suicido. The body was found in three feet of water. There was a bullet wound in tho mouth. The ball had passed out at the hack of the head. The revolver was found in tho wator close by. Deceased had been in the habit of taking a morning ride, accompanied by his daughter, but yesterday morning he went out alone. Nothing unusual was noticed in his demeanor.

[Mr O’Connor left New Zealand to take the appointment in West Australia. He was regarded as one of the ablest engineers in the colonies. Among his reports was one on Gisborne’s breakwater site.]
