CONTINGENT HORSES.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, last night. The Stock Inspector, Mr Miller, to-day despatched 50 horses to Dunedin for the Ninth Contingent, and 42 more leave for the same destination to-morrow. In all, 120 will be sent from this district, and the remainder go to Auckland. To show the quality of the animals secured from Wairoa and the Hawke's Bay back country, the Agricultural Department has secured some of the mares for breeding remounts, and likewise chosen others for the Police Department.
