The retailers' section of the Otago EmI ployers’ Association has adopted the following list of holidays:—January 1 and 2, February races, Cup day, from noon Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anniversary Day, March 23rd, Labor Day (October), King’s Birthday, People’s Show day from noon, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. Tho members will not subscribe to any bazaar, sports, picnics, or prize funds, nor advertise on programmes or tickets. Capt. Nicholson, of the Fourth Contingent, has been appointed Adjutant of the South Island section of the Niuth. Commissions have been given to Lieut. Johnstone, of the Ist Westland Rifles ; Lieut. Collis, of the Waitaki Rifles, and E. Hazlett, of the First Contingent. A poll at Mosgiel on the proposal to adopt rating on unimproved value was taken to-dav, when 4S voted for and 87 against. The proposal was therefore lost.
The Premier has accepted March 10th as the date of the banquet and conversazione in his honor.
