TURANGA CHURCH GARDEN FETE.

The annual garden fete in connection with the country parish of tno Church of England was held yesterday in the beautiful grounds of the Waerenga-a-hika Native College. The weather, though at times the sky was overcast with leaden clouds, was very favorable, and the attendance was large. The scene was a very animated one. and a most enjoyable time was spent. The sports commenced before noon. Mrs Walter Grey had charge of the dinner table. Mrs Charles Gray had charge of the work-tables, and was assisted by Mesdames Kells and H. Williams and Miss Ensor. The refreshment stall was managed by Misses Brooking and Hyland. Afternoon-tea was dispensed by Misses Bradley (2), and was in great demand. Mr D. Courtenay had charge of the Aunt Sally ; Mr Watton, the shooting-gallery : the Rev. B. G. Fox was the postmaster; Mr McClure, assisted by Mr Cook, had charge of the weighing machine. Messrs Fitzell and Smith attended to the swing ; Mrs Sherratt, the bran-tub and sweets-stall. Mr Young was supervisor of the ping-pong tables. The phonograph was in charge of Mr Strachan; the psycho tent in charge of Mr McCruther ; while Mr W. Barber looked after the boiler. The tea tables arranged according to ■districts were supplied as follows : Waerenga-a-hika, Mesdames Fox and Petohell, assisted by Misses Reid, McClure, and Ingleton; Ormond, Mrs Ormerod, Mrs Fitzell, and Miss Newman ; Makauri, Mrs Tucker, and Misses Tucker (4); Matawhero, Mrs Reid and Miss Stephenson, assisted by Mrs Image and Miss Dette ; Te Arai, Mesdames Murphy and Sherratt; Patutahi, Mrs Bilharn and Miss Bee and Mrs Gedye; Waimata, Mesdames Partridge and Akroyd, assisted by Misses Norris and H. Hansen; and two other tables were taken by Mrs Chas. Gray, assisted by Mesdames Weeks, H. Williams, and Woolhouse, and Miss Thomson. The sports were a special feature of the occasion, Major Winter, Messrs Akroyd, Woodward, Tietjen, Roberts, and Witters ably managing the department. The secretary was Mr Charles Gray, who, with tbo members of the committee, Rid capital work, all the arrangements being excellent. The sports resulted as follows Boys’ race ; W.
