POVERTY BAY CRICKET ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held in the Masonic Hotel last evening.

The County Club wrote withdrawing from the Shield contest.

The protest lodged by the Whataupoko Club against the Kaiti Club, on the ground that the latter club included players who were not residents of the Kaiti district in the match won by them on Thursday last, was considered, and the secretary of the Association was instructed to write to the captain of the Kaiti Club on the subject. It was decided to play a match against H.M.S. Penguin on Saturday next on Victoria Domain, and Messrs J. M. Cumming, J. V. Macdonald, and W. Gibson were appointed a selection committee to pick a representative eleven from the United, City, and West End Clubs, County’s withdrawal from the Association debarring its players from inclusion in the team.

It was also decided to place an eleven in the the Waldorf Company on Thursday week, composed of Thursday players. The question of finance came up, and the Treasurer stated that very few subscriptions had so far been paid. It was decided to request the selection committee to include only those players who had paid their subscriptions when soleoting the teams.
