Colonel W ing intercepted l’iet Viljoen's letter announcing that General ,T. Oppcrman, chief loader of the South-Eastern commandos, had been killed in an engagement. Colonels Plumer and Wing found a grave with Oppermau’s initials on the cross.
Sir Gordon Sprigg, Cape Premier, in the course of a speech, said that Great Britain must accept no terms, only unconditional surrender, aud then give ,tho Boers just and generous treatment.
Sydney, Jan. 14. Colonel Williams has acceded to Lord Kitchener's request to return to South Africa.
