GAMBLERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The Chinese who were found in a house raided by the police last week, playing Pakapu, were before the Court to-day. The principal defendant was fined £25 for being the keeper of a common gaming house. Two others, who had assisted in drawing the lottery, were each fined .£ls, and eight gamesters discovered on the premises were fined 20s. SONOMA’S TRIP. Each mail agent on the Sonoma reports that the trip from San Francisco to Auckland occupied 17 days 5 hours 26 minutes. REEFTON FIRE. The insurances on the buildings and stock destroyed at Reefton are:—Colliugs, £3OO in the Imperial on the building, £750 in the Alliance on the stock, £SOO in the Northern on the store, £SO on the building, and £l5O on the ironmongery in the Northern. Anderson (tailor) had £2OO in the Northern. Scarlett had £SOO in the Royal and £SOO in the Commercial Union. The stock of Anderson, Falconer, and Iviely was uninsured.

FATAL ACCIDENT. At Masterton, a man named Sullivan met with instantaneous death to-night by a trap accident. PRIMITIVE METHODISTS. The debate on Methodist Union was continued throughout to-day. This is the third day the subject has been before tho Conference, the question being very thoroughly discussed. It is probable that a vote will bo taken to-morrow. Representatives preached in various churches in the city on Sunday, and successful open-air services were held in the Basin Reserve and Cuba street. A Conference soiree was hold this evening, at which the Rev. W. S. Potter, the retiring President, delivered tho official address.
