London, Jan. 13. The Government’s promised Bill would leave the parties interested to arrange terms. Government would see that the price was fair to both.
The Times says that Mr Balfour’s and All* Chamberlain’s emphasising of the fact that Great Britain is justly proud of her army, and comparing other armies with ours, is the highest compliment we could bestow, and the only reply a nation which has not lost its self respect could make to tho attacks on the honor of its soldiers, and the insinuation that Government had apologised for comparing its soldiers with those of another State.

The Gorman Imperial yacht Hohenzoliern takes Prince Henry of Prussia to attend the christening of the Kaiser’s new yacht, which is being built in America. This is interpreted as a clever diplomatic move. The Kaiser aud President Rosevolt have exchanged friendly messages. Sydney, Jan. 13. The Lieut.-Governor’s health continues unsatisfactory. A movoment for closing up the ranks of trades unions is steadily progrossing. The bootmakers aro taking steps to federate the branches throughout tho Commonwealth.
