DREDGING.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. Tho Mokomai Sluicing Co. washed up 3040 z. for November. EIGHTH CONTINGENT.
Up to the present 170 applications for enrolment in the Eighth Contingent have been received, including 15 troopers who have served in former contingents. Among the applications for commissions are six officers and men who served with former contingents, and Captain Logun, of tho Maniototo Mounted Hides. A SHOP BURNT.
A fancy goods and stationer’s shop at Kensington, occupied by James Morrison, was burnt down. Th.- loss is estimated at about £3OO. The Phoenix Offieo has £IOO on the building, and £IOO on the stock. Tho premises wero owned by Hayes Bros.
