MOTU NEWS.
(Times Special Correspondent.) ■ f A meeting of settlers and those interested was held in the schoolroom last Saturday night with the view of forming a branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. It was agreed that a branch of the Union bo formed in the Alotu. The following gentlemen were elected to fill the different offices :—Alessrs E. Thompson, chairman; N. Shaw, hon. sec.; Richardson, treasurer; A. Hayes, auditor; with Alessrs E. Thompson, O. Richmond, Redpath, Richardson, Hayes, Fisher, J. Hutchinson, and W. AlcLean as committoe. About 40 members joined, and it is anticipated that the number will soon reach 60.
Air Grenfield, who has bought out his partner, All- Patterson, intends getting an oil engine to run his sawmill in placo of the turbine, so as to be able to increase the output of timber.
There is abundance of feed in the Alotu at present, consequently all the stock are looking well.
