Coppor, on spot, is at £56 2s 6d ; three months, £SO 7s 6d. Tin, spot, £ll2 10s; three months, TlO4 10s. Lead, £ll.
Tho Blenheim’s wheat cargo sold at 28s 3d. Two New South Wales cargoes sold at 29s 4,jd and 293 9d, and two Victorian iron sailers, January-February shipment, 6000 and 12,000 quarters, at 29s Od.
Timaru, last night.
Tho first wool sale of tho season for South Canterbury was held in Timaru to-day, when there was a total catalogue of 3737 bales, being an increaso of 1500 bales on the number catalogued for tho corresponding salo of last year. About a dozen buyers were present, nearly all being colonial buyers. The quality of the wool, on tho whole, was not so good as last year, owing to the dry season, but all bright and clean lots were keenly competed for. Tho highest price obtained was 7Ad per lb for half-bred wool, and average prices were 3[d for crossbreds, 5d for Halfbreds and 6d for merinos.
