CRICKET.
(To the Editor of the Times.)
Sik, —Will you kindly inform me how tho fixtures for the Cup matches aro arranged. The secretary of the County Club could not tell enquiring members at tho end of the United-County match last Saturday when, where, or against what club the next match would be played, and yot to our surprise in last evening’s paper appears a “ par ” giving the names of 14 men to play tho City on Saturday. As several of these will probably not see tho notice in time (and Foote didn’t turn up for the match against West End on the 23rd ult. because his name was printed “ Hood ”), it will be a toss-up whether the County will havo eight men on the ground, and then it will be a case of “ good-byo ” to its chances of winning the Cup. If all the fourteen men turn up, then I will have cause to bless the secretary or someone for taking men to town on a fool’s errand. I fail to see any difficulty in a secretary getting 11 men to give definite promises that (barring accidents and ill-health) they will bo present on such a ground on a given day.—l am, etc., F. C. Legbett. Ormond, Deo. 5, 1901.
