Tho Government are inquiring in 0 Arthur Lynch’s past. Lynch, in a letter to tho press, denies that he was a dynamiter or adventurer. He admits he played a certain role in South Africa.
Melbourne, Dec. 6. At a resumed meeting of the Cbillagoe Compuny the Chairman pointed out that, it seemed to be tho opinion that the directors were bound to provide £oU,U to save their reputation. He could no admit that for a moment. The directors would contribute their full share of e new capital required, but could not consistently with self-respect make a special advance. At tho next half-yearly meeting they would place their resignations at the disposal of the shareholders. Eventually the directors were given full power to raise new capital. The Federal Postal and Telegraph Rates Bill provides for sixpenny telegrams in towns and suburbs, nine-pence to other portions of the State, and one shilling for inter-State messages. The press rates are unaltered. Newspaper postage is one halfpenny for eight ounces.
