INTERESTING CEREMONY.

THE VICTORIA CROSS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Dee. 4. There was an interesting ceremony and brilliant assemblage on the occasion of the presentation by the LieutenantGovernor of the first Victoria Cross that came to New South Wales. The recipient was Captain Howie, of the Army Medical Corps'. When the Cross was pinned to his breast, Captain Howie crossed to two veterans who won the coveted distinction in the days of Lucknow and Delhi, and shook them by the hand. Several officers received Distinguished Order decorations at the same time.
