THE LICENSE CASE.
STRUNG ACTION BY JUDGE j UONOI.LV. [lsv Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. Judge Conolly gave judgment on Saturda y on the motion argued in Now Plymouth for a remand into the Supremo Court of the application for a license for the hotel Commonwealth. Hi- Honor, in reviewing the ease, expressed surprise that the Minister for Justice should have treated seriously the anonymous letter making an insinuation against tiie Magistrate (Mr Stanford), instead of consigning it to the waste paper basket. It was plain that Mr Stanford had no interest in the matter as insinuated. The present application was quite uncalled for, and bore strong indication of being actuated by malice. The motion was dismissed, with £'so costs. Execution was stayed for a month to enable the losing side to consider whether it would appeal.
