Wellington, last night,

The Arbitration Court concluded the hearing of the wharf laborers’ dispute today. During the proceedings Mr T. ( ross, representing the shipping companies, quoted from tables showing the extent to which during recent months ocean-going vessels had left our shores short of cargo. He presented a return to the Court, showing in detail the amount of shortages of the Shire Line. The steamer Fifeshire had left with 4000 tons less than she could have carried. The Shaw-Savill steamer Waiwera had 5000 tons less than her capacity. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s Rimutaka and Wakanui 4000 and 0000 tons respectively. The shortages of four of the Tyscr liners were : Miiuiro, 2200 tons ; Star of New Zealand, 450 tons; Tomoana. 1500 tons; and Indraghiri, HOO tons. Th.eso eight vessels left with an aggregate shortage of 10,650 tons. Mr Cross further stated that the Star of Australia had to go to Australia for cargo, and seven other lirect service boats were laid up in New Zealand waters waiting for cargo.
