(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night.

Last night at about 11 o’clock the s.s. Taniwha collided with the s.s. Patiki on the Thames river, ten miles from Pacroa, between Kopu and Hikutaia. Tho Taniwha was coming to Auckland, and steaming at seven knots, when she struck tho Patiki, with 500 cases of gelignite on board, on tho starboard bow, just abaft the rigging. The Patiki began to fill rapidly, and being in shallow water was run ashore. Captain Sullivan says that tho lights wore burning brightly on both steamers, and he cannot account for the accident.
