An Education Board’s Troubles.
SEEKING A CHAIRMAN
[ Special to Times. |
Wellington, last night. The situation with regard to the extended enquiry by the Wellington Education Hoard into the alleged misstatements of its Chief inspector is becoming more farcical than ever. In terms of the resolution of the Board at its last meeting, the enquiry is to take place on Saturday next, but tiie Board is on the horns of a dilemma, because no one will act as chairman under tiie conditions imposed, namely, that lie merely watch the proceedings and have no voice in saying who is in the wrong. Both the Mayor of Wellington and the lion. C. C. Bowen, M.L.C., have declined to act, excusing themselves oil the ground that they have no time. A forlorn hope in the person of the Chairman of the Board sets out tomorrow to try and discover someone who will step in and save the situation.
