PROPOSALS FOR ELECTRIC LIGHT
AND ABATTOIRS.

At the Borough Council meeting tonight several communications were received from firms willing to undertake the reporting on the Council’s proposal to establish electric light and power- in Napier. The applications were referred to tho Public Works Committee.
The Council have selected a site for a morgue behind the' Harbor Board’s old cffliciq, ar.n will ask tho Board to vest tho land in the Council for as long a term as possible.
in discussing the appointment of a manager for the abattoirs now in course of erection, it was decided that as Mr A. Crabbc. M.H.CA .S., had bee., appointed Government Inspector ai the Napier abbatoirs, it would Le an advantage to appoint thui gentleman as manager, as it understood he would accept the position at a small salary, and the Council would thus secure a capable and efficient supervision at a very moderate cost, and would also avoid the possible friction that might i occur if the positions of manager and inspecting officer were held by different persons. r ”he appointment was recomlUUKHiii, and authority was given to prepare plans and specifieations for tho croc- ! tion of a manager’s residence.
