TWO FIRES.

Invercargill, last night. At one o'clock this morning a fire broke out in Air E. 11. Kidd’s store, Main street, Winton, destroying eight buildings, comprising the business block, namely, Kidd’s store, AlcWilliam Bros.’ store, Porry’s Hotel and stables, J. M. Kennedy (tobacconist), W. J. Lyon (fancy goods), National Mortgage Company’s store and offices, Moore’s Hall, butcher’s shop and bakery, AI. Colo (saddler), W. Cameron (photographer), and J. F. Vernon (fishmonger). The loss exceeds £IO,OOO. The insurances are as follow-:—Kidd’s buildings, £403 in the Commercial Union, stock £330 in the Itoyal Exchange and £l5O in the Commercial ; McWilliams Bros.’ store, £BOO in the New Zealand, stock £350 in the New Zealand ; Perry’s Hotel, £950, and stables £l5O, both in the New Zealand ; Aloorc’s buildings, £l5O ; Colo’s buildings, £6O ; Cameron’s, £SO; Kennedy's, £25, all in the New Zealand.

Napier, last night. The upstairs portion of the Albion Hotel was completely gutted by fire early this morning. All the boarders escaped unhurt, though they lost all their effects. The building was owned by the Robjohns estate, and was insured in the Standard for £I2OO, whilst J. E. Ikin, the licensee, was covered by insurance of £750 on the furniture and stock in the Norwich Union.
