By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. James Louis Carl, licensee of the Empire Hotel, was charged before Dr McArthur, S.M., this morning with permitting drunkenness on his licensed premises, and with selling liquor to Richard Emerson while the latter was intoxicated. Emerson, after being served, had fallen down a dive stairs, and sustained fatal injuries. The present charges wore the outcome of the accident-. Latuk.—The case against Carl, of the Empire Hotel, for soiling liquor to an intoxicated person, was dismissed. The Magistrate found that there was no evidence to support the charge.
