AUCKLAND GOLD RETURNS.

A RECORD.

OVER SIXTY THOUSAND POUNDS FOR ONE MONTH.

Auckland, last night. During the five weeks ending to-day, tho gold returns for the Auckland district have reached a total of .£67,738, The returns for the first four weekly part of

the period, representing one month’s crushing operations by the companies concerned, amount in all to 1161,748, in itself constituting a record for any monthly period in the history of the fields, and exceeding all former records, including that of October, 1899, by £IB3O. The present total output is made up as follows : Obincmuri £54,244, Thames £6655 Bs, and Coromandel .£7439 9s 2d. During the month ending May 81st, tho New Zealand Crown mines treated 2896 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at £5995. During tho month ending May 81st, the Waitekauri Goldmining Company treated 2506 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at £4668. The Kauri Freehold Gold Estates Company’s total return for two months, April and May, is £1290 from 840 tons treated.
