AUCKLAND NEWS.
FIRE AT WADE.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. This morning a small building at Wade, formerly occupied by Messrs Brunton Bros., was totally gutted by firo. More recently the building was used as a storeroom for gum by Messrs Thomas Lees and Sons, and there were about 700 sacks of gum in it, which wore only insured for £BOO. It is supposed that an attempt at incendiarism was made last night, but failed, the flames being discovered in time, and prevented from extending to the adjacent buildings. The police are investigating the matter. THE GOYERNOR’S PARTY.
The Government steamer Hinemoa arrived at Onehunga this morning. The Countess of Ranfuriy, Lady Constance Knox, Captain Alexander, tho Hon. HillTrevor, Captain Osborne, and thirty-four servants were passengers by the steamer from Wellington.
