THE PONY IVAN. (Special to Times.) Auckland, last night. The ex-Gisborne pony Ivan has been shipped to Sydney. MAORI DEMONSTRATION. The Native Department has received nows that so far the names of 3000 Maoris who will attend the great demonstration at Rotorua have been engaged. Large numbers will go from Gisborne, Wairoa and Auckland, and also some from the South Island. . Tho steamer Taieri calls at Gisborne on Saturday to take tho natives north for tho Royal reception at Rotorua. I learn that Mahuta has issued circulars to ail tho influential chiefs along the East Coast and Poverty’ Bay, requesting them not to participate in the gathering to be held at Rotorua in connection with the Duke. SERGEANT-MAJOR PITT.
Sergeant-Major Pitt will not call at Gisborne for some days. Ho anticipated calling at his home last week, hut owing to contingent matters at Wellington tho ex-Gisbornite sailed via the West Coast.
