NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN.
By Telegraph—Press Association
Wanganui, last night. The National Council of Women at today’s sitting dealt with the subject of the duty of the State towards illegitimate children, Miss Henderson, of Christchurch, reading a well-thought-out paper on the question. After discussion, it was resolved that in view of the fact that a number of children in this colony are seriously neglected, the Council suggested that cottage homes should be established in the various districts for the reception of such children, who should there be maintained until they are qualified for then- life work. In the evening a paper by Mrs Sievwriglit, on the subject of illegitimacy, was discussed.
