GRAND LODGE OP NEIV ZEALAND Christchurch, last night.
Tho annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Ncxv Zealand xvas opened to-day, when there xvas a large attendance. IV. Bro. A. S. Russell, G.M., presided. A let ter xvas road from IV. Bro. Right Hon. R. J. Seddon, xvho xvas to hax'e presided, expressing regret that oxving. to pressing public business he xvas unable t to be present.
Tho report of the Board of Benevolence xx'as adopted, and showed that £l3O 10s lid had been granted during the year. The statement of accounts presented by the Board of General Purposes shoxved tho amounts to tho credit of the funds to be ; General, £794; Fund of Benevolence, £2201 ; Masonic IVidoxvs and Orphans, £776; Aged and Indigent Masons, £242 ; balance of assets over liabilities, £5462. A proposal to make tho Boards of General Purposes colonial instead of local was agreed to. Tho matter of the invasion of tho territory by the Grand Lodge of Scotland, by. tho opening of a Lodge at Opunake, xvas
discussed, and the matter xvas ultimately left in tho hands of the Board of General Purposes to make such representation as
it secs fit. IV. Bro. Alexander S. Russell xvas installed M.IV. Grand Master for the ensu.

Tho folloxving appointments wore also made : Provincial G.M. at Auckland, IV. Bro. Murdoch McLean; Wellington, R.IV. Bro. 11. J. Williams ; Canterbury, R.IV. Bro. IV. Giffkcns ; Otago, IV. Bro. Jno. IV, Brown; Southland, R.IV. Bro. IV. Smith ; Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne, R.IV. Bro. IV. Beilby, Dunedin. Tho Provincial G.M. for Nelson and Marlborough will continue to be performed by R.IV. Bro. Griffiths, D.G.M.
