Associations was Held to-day, under the auspices of the Canterbury A.' and P. Association,. to consider the question of the federation of New Zealand (with Australia. There was a fair attendance. There were several speakers, for and against. Mr T. IV. Adams moved that it was desirable mw Zealand should federate with Australia. An amendment was moved by Mr Studtrolme, junior, of Ashburton, that the information before the meeting was not sufficient to warrant the expression Of any opinion, but calls on the Government to ascertain on what terms the Commonwealth would admit New Zealand; also, to lay before the public their estimate of the cost of federation, and their opinion of how such cosf Could be raised.
