The New Zealand Federal Commission took evidence in camera. Mr Holder was the only witness examined. It is understood that Mr Kingston and Sir John Forrest will give evidence. The Commission visits Gawler to-day to inspect the iron factories and vineyards, and returns to Sydney on Friday. The final returns of the Federal elections do not alter the results. Mr Poynton, who was mentioned as the only doubtful man, was elected. The conference of the Commercial Travellers’ Association has concluded its sittings. Considerable business which will tend to the benefit of travellers was accomplished. It was decided that efforts be made to hold the next conference at Dunedin, bvjt if this is not feasible Fremantle will bo selected. A message has been sent to Now Zealand offering the Association there the presidency of tlie Conference for the year, but a reply has not been received. Sydney, April 10. A large* public meeting demanded the immediate assembling of the State Parliament to deal with the finance question and the matter of reduction of members. Melbourne, April 10. The Governor of Fiji regrets that lie is uuableto accept the invitation to attend the opening of the Federal Parliament.
