RAILWAY COMMISSION.
[By Telegraph—Press“Association.] Christchurch, last night. The Midland Railway Commission held its first sitting at Christchurch this morning. Mr H. W. Young, the Midland Railway Company’s engineer, put in a number of contracts between the Company and the contractors asked for at Greymouth. P. M. Stewart, contractor, gave evidence as to the work he did for the Company and the prices he received. After hearing part of the evidence of D. Wallace, late traffic manager of the Midland Company, the Commission adjourned till Wednesday. To-morrow members inspect the line from Springfield to Jackson’s Creek.
