[cv • TiSfcEORAPII PRESS ASSOCpm >N.] Napier, last night, At the meeting of the Hawke's Bay Education Board to-day, the Selection Committee submitted a scheme for the distribution of the extra grant for teachers' salaries, They proposed that 72 teachers' salaries between .£IOO and £2OO be increased by 4 per Sent., that 59 teachers’ salaries up to .£IOO be increased by 10 per cent., and that 54 second, third, and fourth year pupil teachers’ salaries be increased by 74 per cent. The recommendations y/ere approved, and ordered to be forwarded to the Department.

The Education Board referred the Gig, borne suggestion that scholarship examinations be. hold on the same system as university examinations to Mr Hill- for a report. The Committee are to be informed that the regulations do not provide for payment to the headmaster, on account of Miss Morgan passing her examination.
