CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. In tho caso in which Samuel Boyd claimed L2OO damages from HuddartParker and Co. for injuries sustained while working on the steamer Zealandia at Lyttelton, Mr Beetham, S.M., gavo judgment for the defendant company, holding that the winch was in first-rate order, that there was a plentiful supply of steam, and that the accident was due to the manipulation of the winch by tho Winchman.
UNIMPROVED VALUES. The voting on the proposal to bring tho Rating on Unimproved Value Act into force in the Borough of Sydenham to-day resulted in 353 votes being cast for tho proposal and 193 against it. A. AND. P. ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Canterbury A. and P. Association was held to-night. The report showed that the income was L 3421 and the expenditure L2994.' The prize money for the last show' amounted to Llßl4. There were now 117 life members and 582 annual members. Appreciative reference was made to the services of Mr M. Murphy, who had relinquished the office of Secretary. Mr F. A. Archer was elected President for the ensuing year. •
