FEDERAL ELECTIONS.
Py Telegraph. Press Association. Copyright Sydney, March 14. Nominations closed to-day for the Federal Senate. Fifty were roceived, including the Labor and Socialist branches’ most prominent nominees, wlio range through the social gamut from tram guard to R. E. O’Connor; A. J, Gould, ex-Minister of Justice ; Colonel Mackay, commanding the Bushmen in South Africa; and John Norton, editor of Truth.
Melbourne, March 14. Nominations have been made for both Houses.
There are’ twenty candidates for the Senate, including Sirs W. A. Zeal, F. Sargood, and J. G. Duffy, and Messrs W. A. Watt (ex-Postmaster-Genoral), J. L. Dow, J. L. Purves, Robert Roid, and Simon Fraser.
Over sixty have been nominated for the House, Sir John Quick, of Bendigo ; A. McLean, ox-Preinier, Gippsland; S. Mauglier, Secretary of tho Protectionist Association, Melbourne ports doctorates, being returned unopposed. The nominees include Turner, Deakin, Isaacs, Carty, Salmon, and ex-Mayov Sir Malcolm McEachearn.
