AUSTRALIANS IN CHINA.
CRITICISM BY IRISH MEM-
BEES.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrigh:
London, March 5. In the House of Commons Captain Prettyman, one of the Civil Lords of the Admiralty, explaining the vote for the Australians Contingent in China, declared that their services had proved most valuable, and were highly appreciated. Their gallantry was always conspicuous. James Daly, member for Monaghan South, remarked on the fact that only six hundred could be picked up at the street corners, which showed that the colonies were out of sympathy with Great Britain.
The vote passed by 235 to (57. Mr J. C. Flynn, member for Cork North, said the payment of £2IOO for the services of the South Australian gunboat Protector was a most convincing evidence of the high character of colonial loyalty.
