Ram Fair.
GOOD ATTENDANCE AND SPIRITED BIDDING.

Freeman Jackson and Co,’s first day’s sale at the Central Ram Fair began today with a catalogue of 800 animals, mostly Lincolns. The attendance was Very large and the bidding spirited. Leicesters were in good demand, and few rams were passed out unsold. There were no sensational prices, however. Shropshires bred by Mr John Greig averaged £5 Is. English ’ Leicesters bred by Mr A. Martin averaged £6. Border Leicesters, bred by Boag, averaged £5 19s 4d; those bred by Holmes £5 11s 4d; and by New Zealand Company £6 12s sd. In Lincolns Mr Wilson’s flocks topped the market, twenty averaging £6 3s lid ; Ferry Bros, following with £5 7s 7d. In stud Lincolns Mr W. M. Wilson’s twenty averaged £ls 10s 9d. He obtained thirty guineas each for t,vo rams. The highest price made >vas for Mr J. B. Sutton’s which averaged £9 Is 6d, the highest being 261 guineas ; R. Brewer’s £B. 11s 9d, with 24} guineas as the highest; Hon. J. D. Ormond, £7 4s 4d.
